Ingredients
1 can of tomato puree/sauce
½ onion
2 cloves garlic
Water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh basil leaves, chopped or dried oregano
4 tablespoons olive oil
Preparation
Dice the onion and garlic
Add the onion, garlic, and olive oil to a medium-sized saucepan
On medium flame, let it simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the onion is lightly golden
Add the tomato puree
To get the tomato puree stuck in the can out, add about ½ a can’s-worth of water, swish it around to get the tomato off the sides, and add it to the saucepan
Add the salt and oregano/basil
Lowered to low flame, cover the saucepan and let the sauce simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until it is thickened slightly and very flavorsome.
Scoop desired quantity onto pasta
Enjoy!
Serving suggestion: Use as pasta sauce, tomato sauce for lasagna, with meatballs, and on top of other dishes.
Storing Indication: Pour sauce into a tupperware container and store in the fridge. Remains fresh for weeks. You can also freeze it in a tupperware container and microwave it/reheat it in a saucepan whenever you desire it.
