Ingredients

  • 1 can of tomato puree/sauce

  • ½ onion

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • Water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil leaves, chopped or dried oregano

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation

  1. Dice the onion and garlic

  2. Add the onion, garlic, and olive oil to a medium-sized saucepan

  3. On medium flame, let it simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the onion is lightly golden

  4. Add the tomato puree

  5. To get the tomato puree stuck in the can out, add about ½ a can’s-worth of water, swish it around to get the tomato off the sides, and add it to the saucepan

  6. Add the salt and oregano/basil

  7. Lowered to low flame, cover the saucepan and let the sauce simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until it is thickened slightly and very flavorsome.

  8. Scoop desired quantity onto pasta

  9. Enjoy!

Serving suggestion: Use as pasta sauce, tomato sauce for lasagna, with meatballs, and on top of other dishes.

Storing Indication: Pour sauce into a tupperware container and store in the fridge. Remains fresh for weeks. You can also freeze it in a tupperware container and microwave it/reheat it in a saucepan whenever you desire it.
